Update : 25 Jun 2013, 09:56 AM

A total of 127 leaders and activists of Jubo League and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), both associate bodies of the ruling party, were sued in connection with Monday’s gunfight between the two groups, reports UNB.

The gunfight had left two people, including a minor boy, dead.

Mahibur Rahman, sub-inspector (SI) of Kotwali Police Station, filed the case against 87 named and 40 unnamed activists of both parties Monday night.

BCL central committee assistant general secretary Saiful Islam Limon, former Chittagong Commerce College unit BCL president DidarulAlam and Jubo League central committee member Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babor were also made accused in the case due to their suspected involvement with the incident.

Earlier, police arrested 52 people including Limon in this connection and produced them before the court around 12:30pm Tuesday seeking a seven-day remand.

The groups of Jubo League and BCL activists locked into a gunfight Monday morning over dropping tender for the reconstruction of Bhatshala Railway Station in Brahmanbaria, and the construction of two level crossings in Feni and Comilla at the Railway East Zone headquarters, CRB Bhaban.
