A Dhaka court on Sunday deferred charge framing hearing for August 14, against 8 BNP leaders including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in connection with two cases on March 2 violence in Dhaka city.
The court deferred the charge framing two times in this case.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan of the Speedy Trial-6 fixed the next date for charge framing after the pleaders of the accused, who submitted separate petitions seeking adjournment of the hearing.
The pleader of the accused Sanaullah Miah filed a time prayer mentioning that, the three Parliament members, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and Barkatullah Bulu, are busy with ongoing parliament budget session. So, they cannot appear before the court and they need time.
During hearing, acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP joint secretaries Mirza Abbas, Aman Ullah Aman, Jubo Dall president Moazzem Hossain Alal were present before the court for two cases.
On March 27, Investigation Officer of these cases submitted charge sheets before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on Paltan police station against Mirza Fakhrul and 25 others, while on 21st March, Fakhrul, Moudud and 22 others were accused in the case filed with Shahjahanpur Police Station.
In March 2, BNP-18 party alliance organised a rally and procession in Dhaka City. In this connection some unrest people from the rally indulged into vandalism and torched vehicle in Shantinagor and Malibagh area.
On that day 7 cases were filed in different police stations under two acts. Two of the Paltan cases and the Shajahanpur case were filed under the Speedy Trial Act. On the other hand, two of the Ramna cases and two of the Paltan cases were filed under the Explosive Substance Act.
