Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh chief Shah Ahmed Shafi yesterday said no one could assume power by disrespecting Islam and this has been proved in the four city corporation polls.
He was addressing Hefazat leaders in Feni. “The result is due to the killing of the Hefazat activists on May 5-6 in the Motijheel area of the capital. People cannot forget the government’s step against Islam.”
“People cast votes in the city corporation polls in support of Hefazat keeping in mind the anti-Islamic stance of the government in Motijheel.”
Shafi congratulated four opposition mayors for their victory in the recently held four city corporations polls.
