Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim said on Thursday that  BNP has been doing ill politics in the name of its chairperson Khaleda Zia's treatment.

"They have been hatching conspiracies by spreading falsehood and creating confusion (over Khaleda's health issue)," he said.

The AL leader made the remarks while speaking at a meeting of the central executive committee of Jatiya Sramik League at the AL president's Dhanmondi political office in the capital.

Nasim said the BNP leaders had been saying that if Khaleda Zia was not taken abroad, she would have died and there was no alternative to this to save her.

"Eventually we saw that she recovered and returned home. She has been given excellent treatment in Bangladesh," he added.

Noting that the people of the country have seen how much the BNP has spread falsehood and propaganda over Khaleda Zia's treatment, the AL leader said they (BNP leaders) wanted to create a volatile situation in the country in the name of her treatment.

Speaking about organizational activities, Nasim urged the Jatiya Sramik League leaders to create skilled leadership and strengthen the party.

He also asked the Sramik League leaders to forget all differences and make the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stronger with united efforts.

"From today, the leaders and workers of Jatiya Sramik League will remain united against both internal and external conspiracies," Nasim said.

Speaking at the meeting, AL Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua said conspiracies have been continuing against the country.

"Like the past, we will deal with all conspiracies and move forward under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he added.

A decision was taken in the meeting to formally inaugurate the Jatiya Sramik League office at AL's central office in the city's Bangabandhu Avenue at 11am on February 5.

Presided over by Sramik League acting President Noor Kutub Alam Mannan, General Secretary KM Azam Khasru moderated the meeting.
