Rejwan Ahmed Toufiq, the eldest son of President Abdul Hamid, has got the nomination of the ruling Awami League for Kishoreganj 4 bypolls to be held on July 3.
The party’s parliamentary board finalised his name at a meeting held Monday at Ganabhaban with party President Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
AL spokesman and LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam said: “Only one person collected the nomination form and submitted it for the bypolls.”
The Kishoreganj 4 constituency as Abdul Hamid was elected president of the country on April 22.
As per the Election Commission schedule, the last date for submitting nomination papers is June 6.
A meeting source told Dhaka Tribune that the AL parliamentary board discussed the upcoming city corporation polls.
Sheikh Hasina asked the party leaders to take initiatives to resolve intra-party conflicts before the city polls. She asked them to play effective roles to make their candidates winners.
