Three Hefazat leaders on 4 days’ remand

A Dhaka court on Monday granted four days’ remand for three Hefazat-e-Islam leaders, arrested from the capital on Sunday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Erfanullah’s court granted two days’ remand for each of the leaders in two cases filed against them on charges of murder, theft and possession of explosives after hearing police pleas. Mufti Mohammad Abul Bashar Nomani, convener of Kafrul wing of Hefazat-e-Islam and Principal of Mirpur Jamiul Ulum Madrasa, Hafez Maulana Mizanur Rahman, joint convener of Hefazat-e-Islam, and Mufti Imran Mazhari, a leader of the outfit, were picked up from the capital on Sunday and were shown arrested in to separate cases filed by DB and Motijheel Thana police.

Earlier, the court rejected the defence’s bail plea.

DB Inspector Md Fazlur Rahman and SI Abdul Awal of Motijheel Police Station sought 20 days’ remand for in each of the cases, producing the arrestees before the court at around 3:15pm.
