BNP’s Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been released on Monday, a day after he was granted bail.
Fakhrul came out from the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in the city around 6pm.
Earlier on Sunday, the High Court (HC) granted six-month bail to Alamgir in five cases in connection with violence during hartal.
The HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Gobinda Chandra Thakur passed the order after Sunday’s hearing.
On March 2, the five cases were filed with Paltan, Shahjahanpur and Ramna police stations against more than 1,000 BNP leaders and activists including 38 top leaders, for vandalising a police van, launching attacks on law enforcers and obstructing them while they had been discharging their duties.

A Dhaka court on April 7 sent 10 BNP top leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam, to jail rejecting their bail pleas in seven separate cases.
