A team of law enforcers has reportedly entered the temporary office of Hefazat-e-Islam set up at the office of the Islami Oikya Jote in the capital’s Lalbagh area Monday afternoon.
Our reporter Manik Miazee, who is now at the spot, said some 200 police members are cordoning off the Hefazat office.
Law enforcers said the team, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police’s Lalbagh Division Harun-ar-Rashid, was holding a meeting with Hefazat chief Shah Ahmed Shafi behind closed doors.
Other leaders including Hefazat Secretary General Junayed Babunagari, Mufti Izhar, Mufti Sakhawat, Jafrullah Khan, Muhibullah Babunagari and Ahnaf Madani are also present at the meeting, our reporter informed.
Chittagong-based Islamist outfit collided heavily with law enforcers on Sunday after they entered the capital following their “Dhaka Siege” programme.
Several people have reportedly died in the clashes.
Hefazat chief Shah Ahmed Shafi alias Allama Shafi, who was supposed to attend the unscheduled rally in Motijheel, did not attend the rally in the end.
He reportedly stayed the night inside the temporary office.
