Fakhrul gets HC bail

The High Court on Sunday granted bail to opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for six months in five cases for vandalising police van and obstructing police. The bench of justices, Md Rezaul Haque and Gobinda Chandra Thakur, gave the order after a hearing. Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and AJ Mohammad Ali moved for Fakhrul in the hearing.

Earlier on April 28, junior Justice Sheikh Mohammad Jakir Hossain of a HC bench felt embarrass to entertain the bail petition of Fakhrul.

On March 2, the five cases were filed with Paltan, Shahjahanpur and Ramna police stations against more than 1000 leaders and activists of BNP including its 38 top leaders for vandalising police van, launching attack on law enforcers and obstructing them to discharge their duties, reports banglanews.

Earlier on April 7, a Dhaka court sent 10 BNP top leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam, to jail rejecting their bail pleas in seven separate cases.
