Jamaat-Shibir activists allegedly set fire to APC Pharmaceuticals factory in Bagerhat early yesterday.
Factory owner Dr Baharul Islam, vice president of Swadhinata Chikitsok Parishad, blamed Jamaat-Shibir for the sabotage. Factory manager Ali Azam said a group of 15 masked Jamaat-Shibir men tied up the guard, Mizan Sheikh and entered the factory at midnight. They used gun powder to ignite the fire. Two firefighting units doused the fire after a two-hour effort.
The factory was completely destroyed, though the extent of damage could not be estimated immediately.
