Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir called an eight-hour hartal for Saturday in the district protesting the killing of a Shibir man during countrywide daylong hartal on Thursday.
The hartal will be enforced from 6 am to 2 pm.District city unit Jamaat ameer Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, secretary Professor Mahfuzur Rahman and president of Islami Chhatra Shibir city unit Saidur Rahman jointly announced the hartal in the afternoon.
Gazi Ali, an Islami Chhatra Shibir leader was shot dead and nine people, including two policemen, were injured in a clash between Shibir men and police during hartal at Chenchuri in Dumuria upazila on Thursday morning.
