BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday alleged that the government is a key player in the Farhad Mazhar kidnapping incident.
Rizvi said: “We need not to be barristers or PhD holders from Australia or Germany to understand the government's involvement with the incident, even an insane individual will understand that the state plotted the drama of Farhad Mazhar.”

“The kidnapping was nothing but a threat to the people who are talking in favour of BNP. Its a part of the government's conspiracy against BNP,” the BNP senior joint secretary general said.
He further alleged that the government was planning to hold the next elections without BNP. “However, we will only participate in the election under 'supportive government',” he said.
Criticising law enforcement agencies, Rizvi said: “Why should we believe the police statement? The police themselves play key roles in the enforced disappearances, abductions, killings and tortures of BNP supporters upon the instruction of the government.
