Quader: Infrastructure development in vain if road safety not ensured

He also said women should be trained in driving school for professional driving as women tend to follow and respect traffic rules more than male drivers

Update : 24 Oct 2020, 03:59 PM

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said all government efforts to build good roads and transport infrastructure will go in vain if the people do not feel safe on the roads.

“The government is making great stride in the road and transport sector by taking up impressive projects like metro rail and reconstructing roads. However, if the common people do not abide by the traffic rules and feel unsafe on the road, there is no point of all these,” he said.

He was speaking at a virtual event titled – “Road Safety Collaboration: Reducing road fatalities 50% by 2030” – jointly organized by Brac and the World Bank on Saturday to observe the National Road Safety Day 2020.
