The ruling party Awami League has submitted its financial statements of 2019 to the Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Awami League's savings in party funds have increased by 35%. At the end of 2018, there was Tk37,56,03,838 (Tk37.56cr) in the party fund. At the end of 2019, there was a total of Tk50,37,43,593 (Tk50cr) in that fund.
Awami League publicity secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua submitted that income and expenditure report to the Election Commission’s Senior Secretary Md Alamgir.
As per the statement, Tk40 crore has been kept at the bank as Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR) out of Tk50 crore.
Last year the party’s income was Tk21,02,41,330, at the same time, the party had spent Tk8,21,01,575.
Awami League claimed, in the previous year, a large part of the party's income came from selling party nomination forms. The income of the party in this sector is Tk12,32,30,000. The party received Tk3,02,55,800 from its triennial national conference. The party got Tk2,33,75,223 as bank interest, and Tk1,07,64,000 came from the fees of the party’s MPs.
As per the statement, Awami League said that the highest amount of Tk3,43,14,800 taka has been spent as expenditure for organizing the party's national conference. And, Tk1,13,77,700 has been spent on salaries, bonuses, entertainment fees, and other sectors of the employees.
Tk1,18,18,865 has been spent for various party programs, while, the party president's office rent was Tk55,00,000.
Apart from this, the rest of the money has been spent on election monitoring office, maintenance of party office, relief activities, district public meeting and other party activities, organizational expenses, advertisement and poster publishing, and other sectors, the party said.
