Central leaders of the Bangladesh Chhatra League on Monday declared that Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson Dr Imran H Sarkar and his associate Sanatan had been banned from the Dhaka University (DU) campus as well as Shahbagh for using invective against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Chhatra League Education and Curriculum Secretary Golam Rabbani made the announcement at a conference following a student procession from the Teacher Student Centre to the Prajanma Chattar in Shahbagh around 9pm.
"If either Imran or Sanatan are seen on the DU campus or in Shahbagh, they will be beaten like dogs," he said.
Chhatra League Vice-Presidents Mehedi Hasan Rony and Adittya Nandi were also in attendance.
Following the removal of the Lady Justice statue from the Supreme Court premises on early Friday, May 26, Ganajagaran Mancha staged a procession led by Imran. At the time, Imran and Sanatan had been critical of the prime minister's decision.
After a video of the procession went viral, Chhatra League leaders took offense to Imran and Sanatan's stance, staging the procession on Monday in response.
On Tuesday, Chhatra League leaders submitted a draft complaint to Shahbagh police station against the two Ganajagaran Mancha activists. The complaint is being processed before a case may be filed.
