The health condition of former home minister Sahara Khatun has improved, says an aide.
“She’s better now, but still in ICU (intensive care unit) as doctors said they will observe her for another day before moving her to the cabin,” Mujibor Rahman, personal secretary to the Awami League MP, told the Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.
The 77-year-old was taken to the capital’s United Hospital on June 2 with fever and other pre-existing conditions.
On June 19, she was moved to the ICU after her condition deteriorated.
A member of the ruling party’s policymaking Presidium, Sahara represents the Dhaka-18 constituency for a third term. She served as the home minister and later the post and telecommunication minister in the 2008 Sheikh Hasina-led cabinet.
