Pro-Awami League White Panel candidate AM Amin Uddin has been elected president while pro-BNP-Jamaat Blue Panel aspirant Ruhul Quddus Kazal has been elected general secretary in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election.
On Friday morning, the results were announced by AF Hassan Ariff, who led a seven-member sub-committee, to conduct the two-day election.
In the polls, the White Panel bagged six out of 14 positions, while the Blue Panel clinched eight posts.
Amin Uddin defeated his rivals from Blue Panel's candidate Joynul Abedin and independent candidate Eunus Ali Akand, while Kazal defeated his rival White Panel aspirant Shah Manjurul Haque.
The White Panel candidates, who won in the polls, are -- Amin Uddin (president), Md Moniruzzaman (vice president), Md Imtiaz Faruk and Mohammad Bakir Uddin Bhuiyan (assistant secretaries), Md Humayun Kabir and Mohammad Moshiur Rahman (members).
The winning candidates from Blue Panel are -- Md Abdul Jabbar (vice president), Ruhul Quddus Kazal (general secretary), Raghib Rauf Chowdhury (treasurer), and Mar-e-Yam Khandker, Amirul Islam Khokon, Md Mohaddes Ul Islam Tutul, Mohammad Mohsin Kabir and Md Saif Uddin Ratan (members).
A total of 5,940 voters, out of 7,781, cast their votes in the election held on March 11 and 12.
A number of 31 candidates contested the polls.
