Rizvi: Khaleda's imprisonment is completely illegal

Around 150 activists of Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal took part in the procession

BNP leaders and activists of Dhanmondi unit have brought out a torch procession in Dhaka, demanding the release of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The procession started from the Science Lab area, and ended at Elephant road around 6:30pm on Tuesday.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi led the torch procession. Around 150 activists of Chhatra Dal, and Jubo Dal took part in the procession. 

In a brief address before the procession, Rizvi said: "Khaleda's imprisonment is completely illegal."

"This government has not only put a former prime minister in jail, but also imprisoned Bangladesh's democracy, and sovereignty," he added.

While demanding Khaleda's immediate release, Rizvi said: "We can restore the country's independence, and strengthen it, only after releasing our leader from illegal captivity."

Earlier, Keraniganj unit BNP, and its youth front Jubo Dal's Dhaka south city unit also brought out a torch procession at Dhaka’s Naya Paltan area on October 14.
