Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman Golam Muhammad Kader has said his party will not face difficulties over unity, and remain united in the future.

“No one becomes a king if they declare so. To be a king, you need a kingdom, and you need subjects. Therefore, it does not matter to Jatiya Party over who says what. Action will be taken against those who are involved in violating party discipline,” he said while speaking to journalists at the party chairman’s office in Dhaka’s Banani on Thursday afternoon.

He also said as per Section 20/1/Ka of the party’s constitution, JaPa founding chairman HM Ershad, before his demise, decided the party’s leadership in the event of his absence.

“He [HM Ershad] had declared me as the chairman of Jatiya Party in front of the media. At the same time, all presidium members congratulated me for assuming the post of party chairman in the first presidium meeting after his demise,” Kader added.

“Apart from that, 15 parliamentarians from the party have made their decision on electing the Opposition Leader of the House, and a letter was sent to the Speaker based on that decision. All these decisions were taken democratically as per the party’s constitution,” he said.

GM Kader also said, JaPa Secretary General Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga is also with the mainstream leaders of the party.
