Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has expressed deep shock and sorrow for the death of Hussain Muhammad Ershad, leader of the opposition in parliament and Jatiya Party (JaPa) chairman.
HM Ershad passed away at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka around 7:45am.
In a condolence message released on Sunday morning, Quader prayed for salvation of his departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to Ershad's bereaved family members.
Former President of Bangladesh and Bikalpadhara President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury also expressed his shock on Ershad's death, saying Ershad's role in Bangladesh politics cannot be erased.
