Media reports on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release on parole in order to get treatment abroad is “a government propaganda,” BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Thursday.

“Recently, a news report has been circulating that our chairperson is leaving the country after being released on parole," he said at a press conference held at the party's central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka Thursday morning.

“They even mentioned the date! But we do not have any information over the matter. A few pro-government media outlets are carrying out this propaganda,” he said.

The senior joint secretary general of BNPfurther claimed that intelligence agencies were also involved in the propaganda.

“However, the media remains silent when reporting on Khaleda Zia's illness,” he said.

Rizvi warned that there would be no use in employing “evil techniques” in the name of parole, to stop Khaleda from getting released. "Stop interfering with the court's activities,"he added.
