He made the statement while addressing a discussion meeting at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Sunday

Information Minister Hasan Mahmud has said if BNP was to boycott any election in the future, it would not benefit anyone.

The minister said: “BNP lost their connection with the people after boycotting the 2014 general election. Though they participated in the last one in December 2018, they were not well prepared and hence were defeated. If they again boycott any election, that will not benefit them.”

He made the statement while addressing a discussion meeting on account of the second death anniversary of veteran Awami League politician Suranjit Sengupta at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Sunday.

“BNP still has not come out from negative politics. Basically, they have no faith on themselves. If any political party does participate in any election, they then fail to make any connection with the people,” Hasan further said .

“Suranjit Sengupta was a very wise parliamentarian. He was a very popular politician among the grassroots activists. We have so many things to learn from the life of Suranjit Sengupta,” he said.
