Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina identified BNP’s poor election strategy as the reason for their colossal defeat in the polls, in her 25-minute televised address on Friday.
“BNP nominated more than one candidate in most of the constituencies as part of their nomination trade. Also, they nominated weak candidates for most of the seats,” she said.
“People have not forgotten BNP-Jamaat's countrywide arson, terrorism and destructive activities from 2013 to 2015 and yet BNP nominated war criminal Jamaat leaders under its electoral symbol Sheaf of Paddy,” she added.
Sheikh Hasina also said people were not certain who would be BNP’s prime minister and failed to project their future plans if the party was voted to power.
PM sought national unity and vowed to take a strong stance against corruption as she delivered her first nationwide address, assuming office for the third consecutive term.
