Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Political Advisor HT Imam on Tuesday said that ensuring good governance will be the biggest challenge for the Awami League government.
“But by fulfilling the promises of the election manifesto, Awami League can ensure good governance,” said HT Imam.
The newly reappointed political advisor to the prime minister made the comments after paying tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s mural at Dhanmondi 32.
The senior Awami League leader identified corruption, militancy and drug abuse as the main problems affecting Bangladesh.
“We have to curb militancy as well as prevent corruption and drug abuse to build a great nation. We can develop Bangladesh if we tackle these problems,” he said.
HT Imam said that the new government will try to curb capital waste, adding: “We sometimes end up wasting huge amounts of money during projects.”
He also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a discussion with political parties but the discussion will not be on the BNP and Oikya Front’s demands for a new election.
