Fakhrul: No dialogue unless agenda includes cancelling polls

The BNP secretary general added that this is the final decision of both the Oikya Front and BNP

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said no dialogue will be held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unless it includes the cancellation of the election on the agenda.

He made the comment to reporters while visiting an injured party activist at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday.

Fakhrul said: “Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader should make a public apology for rigging votes and organizing a farcical election.

“Quader mentioned that the prime minister has plans to hold more dialogues, will political leaders who she talked to before the election, and invite them for tea. However, we will only participate in a dialogue if its agenda includes  cancelling the 11th general election.”

He added that this is the final decision of both Oikya Front and BNP.

Alleging that the whole country has turned into a hospital, the BNP secretary general said: “Following the December 30 election, the Awami League has engaged in oppression, torture, and anarchy in every district.

“The nation knows about Awami League’s ploy to win the match in an empty field. Jubo Dal activist from Jessore Foysal has been stabbed. He needed eight bags of blood during treatment. They no longer consider people as people.”

He also alleged that the people of Bangladesh are unhappy about the recently-held general election.

BNP Vice Chairman AZM Zahid Hossain and party Chairperson Khaleda Zia's press wing officer Shairul Kabir Khan were present during the event, among many others.
