Jatiya Oikya Front’s demand to hold fresh polls is unconstitutional and disrespectful of public’s verdict, says Law Minister Anisul Huq.
He made the remark while speaking to the media, on Tuesday, during an event held in Dhaka.
He said: “The demand for fresh polls by Oikya Front is not at all constitutional, rather, it is illogical. The people have voted and Oikya Front has no right to disrespect that.”
Regarding Allama Shafi’s remarks, the minister said: “With all due respect to him, such statements go against the positive development trend of the country.
“It is his personal opinion and everyone is entitled to have their own judgment. It will not bring any change in the running of the country or in policies for that matter.”
“We will be more committed to women’s rights than we are now,” the minister added.
