Update : 13 Jan 2019, 01:38 PM

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold another dialogue with the political parties.

The Awami League general secretary said the prime minister will invite the political parties with whom she had held dialogues before the 11th general election at Ganabhaban.

He made the comments in a meeting with the presidents, general secretaries, upazila chairmen and municipality mayors of Dhaka and surrounding areas, at the central Awami League office in Bangabandhu Avenue on Sunday.

The parties will be given invitation letters to come to the Ganabhaban again, he said.

"Before the elections, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina invited all political parties for a talk," he said. "Now that the polls are over, she will invite them to the Ganabhaban to hold talks and exchange views."

The 75 parties that Sheikh Hasina held a  meeting pre-election, including Jatiya Oikya Front and Jukta Front, will be invited again, Quader said.

The general secretary further said he is hopeful BNP will join the upazila elections.

"An election is held properly if it is free, fair and participatory," he said. "We do not consider any competitor weak; if Oikya Front or BNP comes to power, we will welcome them."

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Abdur Rahman, Organizational Secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, and others were present during the meeting.
