Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said BNP will be given a befitting reply if they try to commit sabotage in the name of a political movement.
“We [the government] and the public will give a befitting reply to BNP if they try to commit sabotage,” he said while talking to reporters at Shimulia ferry ghat, in Munshiganj, around 9am on Wednesday.
He said: “They [BNP] can call for a political movement against the elections, but if they commit sabotage in the name of protest, action will be taken against it.”
The minister said: “BNP failed to wage a political movement, even just for 10 minutes. What will they do now? They have lost the election also.
“They have failed to wage a political movement and win the polls. I believe, they will not be successful in the future either.”
He said: “We do not trust those who are not trusted by the public of Bangladesh.”
Quader, also Awami League general secretary, said: “If they chose to obtain legal assistance, we will also take legal action; and if they chose a political movement, then we will also do so.”
During the visit, the minister also inspected the construction work on the Padma Bridge; along with three other cabinet members.
