BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that the government has started a cyber war against them by spreading propaganda and false information online against Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman.
He made the statement at a press briefing in BNP's Naya Paltan headquarters on Saturday.
“Centre for Research and Information (CRI) is the central organization to spread propaganda on behalf of the Awami League. Prime Minister’s close associates are the organizational heads,” he added.
He claimed that journalist Syed Borhan Kabir of Creative Media Limited and Mohammad A Arafat, executive director of Suchinta Foundation were involvedin spreading false news on behalf of the ruling party.
“They are using Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and other social media sites to carry outfalse information.”
“They (government) has been trying to confuse voters and divert their attention from their 10 yearsof misrule, plundering, repressive acts, killings, and disappearances by carrying out false, fabricated, baseless, and politically motivated propaganda,” he added.
Rizvi also alleged that the ruling party was using online portals, YouTube channels and Facebook groups, including Bangla Insider, Bangla News Post, Amader Rajniti, News for All, Chobir Moto Desh, Bangladeshi Viral Videos, Chairman Sab, Guerrilla-71, Cyber Force-71, Bangabandhu Cyber Force, Bangabandhu Digital Brigade, Aam Janata, Bhorer Pataa, and Gujobe Kan Diben Na, as their personal cyber terrorists tospread misinformation online.
“They are spending thousands of dollars for boosting such posts from fake Facebook IDs.”
He also demanded the immediate release of all the arrested BNP leaders and activists.
