BNP leader Tariqul Islam’s namaz-e-janaza held

The 73-year-old senior BNP leader died at Apollo Hospital on Sunday evening

BNP Standing Committee member and former minister Tariqul Islam’s namaz-e-janaza has been held in Dhaka.

The namaz-e-janaza was held in front of BNP's Naya Paltan central office on Monday.

After the janaza, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said: “Tariqul's death is an irreparable damage to the nation.”

“The veteran politician never compromised with injustice. A leader like him is very needed in this momentof crisis,” he said.

BNP Standing Committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and other party leaders and activists attended the janaza.

Meanwhile, BNPleaders and activists were seen wearing black badges.

The 73-year-old senior BNP leader died at Apollo Hospital on Sunday evening. He was suffering from cardiac problems, kidney diseases, diabetes, and old-age complications.

Tariqul had been admitted to the hospital on October 13 in critical condition, and had been undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU).

The BNP leader’s second namaz-e-janaza is scheduled to be held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sansad Bhaban.

His body will be flown to Jessore, where his third janaza will be held at Jessore Eidgah ground after asr prayers. Later, he will be buried at his family graveyard.
