Jatiya Oikya Front, led by Dr Kamal Hossain, has decided to hold a rally in Dhaka on Friday, November 2, to push for its seven-point demand, including holding the next national election under a non-party government.

On behalf of the Oikya Front, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the event at a press conference at BNP's Naya Paltan central office on Monday, reports UNB.

Rizvi said they will hold the rally either at Suhrawardy Udyan or in front of BNP's Naya Paltan central office—subject to permission granted by the authorities concerned.

Previously, the Oikya Front held two public rallies, in Sylhet and Chittagong on October 24 and 27, respectively.

On Sunday, Dr Kamal sent a letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina seeking to discuss the national election.

The Oikya Front sent another letter to Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader urging the ruling party to engage in dialogue ahead of the election.

The letter addressed to the prime minister read: “To overcome the current challenge, we the Jatiya Oikya Front have announced a seven point demand and 11-point goal.

“We expect to sit for a meaningful dialogue with your party Bangladesh Awami League and want your cooperation to make it happen.”
