BNP has said the government is hatching a conspiracy to silence dissenters ahead of the upcoming general election.
“The government is pursuing a plan ahead of the upcoming election. It has filed cases against top BNP leaders to hold a stage-managed election,” Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told a briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan headquarters on Tuesday.
He made the remarks one day after a number of senior BNP leaders, including Rizvi and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, were sued on charges of delivering anti-government speeches at a party rally held in Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Sunday.
The case was filed with Hatirjheel police station.
