BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said party Chairperson Khaleda Zia was sent behind bars as political revenge.
He made the statement while addressing a procession in front of Hossain Market in Badda Sunday afternoon.
BNP leaders and activists, led by Fakhrul, brought out the procession demanding the release of party chief Khaleda Zia.
Fakhrul said: “BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been jailed as an act of political revenge. She is severely ill. She has not been given proper medical treatment.”
He demanded that Khaleda be released and taken to United Hospital for treatment.
BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, Dhaka Metropolitan Jubo Dal (North) General Secretary Ahsan Ullah Hasan and Joint General Secretary Shamim Parvez, among others, were also present at the procession.
Meanwhile, the party leaders and activists shouted the slogan: “Khaleda Zia is not afraid. We have not left the streets. We will not allow our leader, our mother to remain in captivity.”This article was first published on banglatribune.com
