BCL man killed in Jessore 'turf war'

The deceased is Biplob Hossain, son of Nazrul Islam of the village. He was a second year student at Navaron Degree College. Local sources and police said there was a longstanding dispute between supporters of Benapole Municipality Mayor Ashraful Alam Liton and Sharsha upazila MP Sheikh Afil Uddin. Biplop, who was a supporter of Mayor Ashraful, was severely beaten up by the rival group on Saturday. Locals rushed him to Upazila Health Complex where he died while undergoing treatment. Confirming the matter, Sharsha police OC Moniruzzaman said: “Biplob’s body was sent to Jessore General Hospital for autopsy.” “We are going to arrest those involved in the murder,” the OC added.
