BNP slams obstruction to visit Khaleda

Update : 05 Apr 2018, 02:51 AM
BNP alleged on Wednesday that the government is obstructing the personal physicians of their ailing chairperson Khaleda Zia from visiting her in the old Dhaka Central Jail. "The government is oppressing our Chairperson Khaleda Zia. The government is hurting her little by little after taking away her right to get bail along with all other rights," said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. Speaking at a press conference at BNP's Naya Paltan headquarters, he also said they still do not know the real health condition of their 73-year-old chairperson. "Her personal physicians are being prevented from giving her proper treatment in jail." He alleged that though the High Court granted her bail, it was stayed at the behest of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. "Getting bail is the right of any person, and staying it as per the directive of the head of the government is a sheer violation of human rights." Describing the current leader of the country as an internationally recognized autocrat, Rizvi alleged that she was depriving their party chief of her rights in jail. He claimed that the people of the country want the government to release Khaleda from jail immediately. "There has been uproar among the people as the government is resorting to ploys to prevent her release." The BNP leader warned that their party will not sit idle for long if the government does not free her from jail. Rizvi alleged that the country's financial sector is facing ruination due to unbridled corruption and plundering by the ruling party men. He alleged that most of the banks are also now in a very sorry state due to widespread plundering. "Awami League has now turned into a college of corruption where it is taught how to plunder thousands of crores of taka."
