Awami League Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim said the next parliamentary election will be held in December of this year.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the newly-constructed 50-bed health complex in Kamalganj upazila under Moulvibazar district on Saturday, Nasim said: “Whenever Awami League has been in power, we have worked relentlessly for the betterment of the health and wellness infrastructure. When BNP were in power, they put an end to all our efforts for their own personal gains. This cannot be allowed to happen again!”
Nasim also said: "The Election Commission will play the role of the referee and this will be like the final match of a tournament. We want BNP to participate in the election in order to make it a competitive spectacle."
Detailing the government’s plan to establish medical colleges in every district, Nasim said a medical college would also be established in Moulvibazar.
“All we ask is that you all keep our contributions to the country in mind and vote for Awami League when the moment of truth comes this December,” the minister said.
Upazila Hospital Managing Committee President MP Abdus Shahid presided over the program while MP Abdul Matin, Moulvibazar Zila Parishad Chairman Azizur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Tofael Islam, among others spoke at the event.
