Nazrul: BNP won't contest national polls without Khaleda Zia

Update : 07 Mar 2018, 11:05 PM
BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan has said they will not participate in the next general election without party Chairperson Khaleda Zia. He on Wednesday also said BNP made no mistake by not conesting the 2014 polls, and this would be proved if there was a free and fair election in the future. Nazrul expressed his opinion at a press briefing at the party's Khulna headquarters at the end of a program discussing the continuation of the protests against Khaleda’s incarceration. “Police did not allow us to hold a rally. They keep changing their word. They say that we cannot organize a protest on the street in front of our office. But if we want to do it in front of the Shaheed Minar, they tell us to do it in front of our office," he said. "We will send our Khulna unit General Secretary Moniruzzaman Moni to seek permission to hold the rally at the Circuit House field,” Nazrul added. BNP Vice-Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu, Khulna BNP president Nazrul Islam Manju, General Secretary and city Mayor Moni, district BNP President Shafiqul Alam Mona and General Secretary Amir Ejaz Khan, and other party members were present at the press briefing.
