Hasan Mahmud calls on AL activists to stay active in the field

Update : 01 Feb 2018, 06:20 PM
Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud has called on his party activists to remain vigilant in the field. He called on the activists to resist BNP if they try to create any unrest over the verdict in a graft case against the party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia on February 8. Hasan Mahmud made this call while attending a human chain in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Thursday. He said: “The indication of unrest has already started. They [BNP activists] attacked the police and snatched detainees in a filmy style.” The Awami League leader said BNP activists from outside Dhaka have entered the city to create unrest on February 8, and asked the ruling party activists to be careful about them. “Just inform the law enforcers as soon as they are spotted,” he added. Criticizing BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Hasan Mahmud said: “He said the mob that attacked the police was outsiders. His lies broke all the records of the past. Did the BNP rally also had ghosts among them?” On Tuesday, after the hearing of Zia Charitable Trust graft case, BNP activists attacked a prison van of police and snatched two detained activists of Chhatra Dal near the High Court. Later, in connection to the attack, police detained over 70 leaders and activists of BNP, including Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and National Executive Committee Members Onindo Islam Omit and Obaidul Haque Nasir. This article was first published on banglatribune.com
