Disgruntled former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders, who did not get posts in different sub-committees of Awami League, have confined Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader once again at Awami League political office in Dhanmondi Sunday evening.
This is the second time in consecutive days the post-deprived former BCL leaders staged demonstration against the influential general secretary of the ruling party.
Witnesses said around 300 former leaders, who had been waiting in front of party office since afternoon, intercepted Quader's car when he arrived at 7:30pm and staged a demonstration around Quader's car demanding the cancellation of the already announced sub-committees.
They also chanted slogans against Quader and Awami League Office Secretary Dr Abdus Shobhan Golap.
Other central leaders of Awami League, who were inside the party office, tried to rescue Quader from the situation. At one point Quader got out of his car and assured ther asked for three months demands into the sub-committees.
On Saturday, former student leaders confined Quader at party office for hours and broke his car's windshield.
However, on Sunday morning at a press conference at the Secretariat, Quader claimed that no one staged a demo against him on Saturday and that the former student leaders had brought out a celebration rally.
