A total of 13 people have sought nomination from ruling Awami League for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) by-polls till on Sunday.
Businessmen Abaid Monsur, Yead Ali Fakir, Shamim Hasan, Momtaz Uddin Ahmed Mehedi and Abul Bashar collected their nomination papers from Awami League president’s office in Dhanmondi area on Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday, former president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association Atiqul Islam collected nomination form from the ruling party office.
Atiqul’s campaign team, headed by its election coordinator AKM Mizanur Rahman, collected the nomination papers on his behalf from the Dhanmondi office of Awami League.

The other nomination seekers are – Rasel Ashequi, Adam Tamizi Haque, Helal Uddin Helal, HBM Iqbal, Jobair Alam, Mohammad Shah Alam and Farhad Hossain.
Awami League started distributing nomination forms Saturday morning to pick an eligible candidate for the upcoming by-polls for DNCC mayoral post, which is scheduled to be held on February 26.
The post fell vacant on November 30 last year through the death of Annisul Huq, the first ever mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation.
Annisul, also a former president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, won the polls as an Awami League-endorsed candidate in 2015.
The ruling party will formally pick a candidate later after a meeting of its Local Government Nomination Board to be held at Awami League chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s official residence, Ganabhaban.
