A BCL man, who sustained bullet injuries in a factional clash between two groups of the students' body of the ruling Awami League in Noakhali sadar upazila on Monday night, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Dhaka.
The victim was identified as Saiful Islam Wasim 24, member of BCL Noakhali district unit.
Police have detained one Md Sharif 25, son of Tofael Ahmed of Paschim Maijdee village and also the elder brother Sourab who was allegedly involved in the killing.
Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sudharam Model police station said Sharif was arrested to quiz about his brother Sourab.
Abu Naser, former Chatra League leader and also district Awami League leader told the Dhaka Tribune that BCL’s faction Raju Group led by Raju shot Rajib of another BCL faction over a trifling matter at 5pm on Monday, leaving him dead on the spot.
Yeasin and Wasim received bullet injuries in the incident took place at old campus of Noakhali Government College.
At first, they were taken to Noakhali General Hospital. Later, Wasim was shifted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital in Dhaka where the duty doctors declared him dead on Tuesday, said Naser.
