Police have pressed charges in court against BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 33 others in a case filed last year over the torching of vehicles.
Paltan police station’s Sub-Inspector Md Mominul Haque, the investigation officer, submitted the chargesheet at Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court yesterday.
Others charged with violence include BNP’s Rafiqul Islam Miah, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Aman Ullah Aman, Barkatullah Bulu, Zaynal Abedin Faruk, Abdul Awal Mintoo, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Iqbal Hossain and Ariful Haque Arif.
According to case details, blockade supporters set ablaze a BRTC bus and a private car in front of Rajuk Bhaban at Motijheel during the BNP-led alliance’s countrywide transport blockade on January 6, 2015. The bus’ driver Ali Biswas filed the case with Paltan police.
