The son of a local Awami League leader has reportedly stabbed a minor boy over a daft incident in Sirajganj.
Alamgir Hossain, son of Ullapara municipality Awami League unit chief Ahsan Ali, dubbed Wednesday’s incident “nothing but a minor misunderstanding.” He is also the general secretary of the upazila’s professional deed writers’ association.
Ullapara Momena Ali Biggyan School’s grade-VII student Kamrul Hasan Ontor, 13, has been admitted to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital. Dr Foysal Ahammed said the stab wound on Kamrul’s forehead needed six stitches. “He could have lost his eye.”
His father Shahidul Islam said Kamrul was returning home on his bicycle, which left a little trail of dust that dirtied Alamgir’s clothes at Shyamolipara Pukurchala. “He beat up my son severely and stabbed him.”
Shahidul filed a case with Ullapara police yesterday. Alamgir’s father said they were trying to settle the matter.
