Nasim: Form commission over 1/11 incidents

Update : 23 Feb 2016, 01:45 PM

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim has demanded forming an investigation commission to find out the 'conspirators' of 1/11 changeover in 2007.

Nasim, also Awami League presidium member, was speaking at the 6th South Asian Neurosurgical and 8th International Scientific Conference in Dhaka jointly organized by South Asian Association of Neurosurgeon and Bangladesh Society of Neurosurgeons on Tuesday, reports BSS.

"They should be unmasked through the commission. That will stop recurrence of such incidents in future," he said.

Mohammad Nasim said some conspirators wanted to minus Sheikh Hasina and Begum Khaleda Zia from politics during the 1/11.

"Some controversial people wanted to grab power. But, Sheikh Hasina brought back the country to democracy with her proper leadership," he added.

Criticising Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, Momahhad Nasim said he is not admitting his mistake during the 1/11.

"But it is not enough. You have to resign. It is your mistake for which Sheikh Hasina had to suffer in jail for 11 months. I, too, was tortured in jail," he added.

Nasim said he fell sick in jail during the 1/11 and posed a question who will give back his physical fitness.

"If a responsible man fails to discharge his duty, he should quit the responsibility," he observed.

Thirty-five foreign surgeons from different countries, including the US, Germany, Turkey, Nepal, India, Japan and Singapore took part in the conference.
