The Awami League has named chairman candidates for the first phase of Union Parishad (UP) elections scheduled for March 22.
Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap sent the list of 739 candidates to the media on Friday night.
The party’s nomination board finalised candidates at a two-day meeting on February 16-17, chaired by Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
It also selected 10 candidates for contesting re-elections at 10 municipalities on March 20.
