Health Minister Mohammed Nasim yesterday said the BNP was spreading falsehood to tarnish the image of Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He made the statement at a memorial meeting of late city Awami League President MA Aziz organised by Bangabandhu Academy at Diploma Engineers Institution.
“There was no controversy over the number of martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War, but BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her party leaders are tarnishing the country’s image by deliberately spreading falsehood against the history of independence,” he said.
Nasim, also a presidium member of Awami League, alleged that Khaleda was trying to create a chaotic situation in the country’s political arena through delivering false, untrue and baseless speeches at different times.
Referring to BNP leaders’ frequent remarks that the present government was Illegal, he said: “The BNP is raising question about the legality of the government and at the same time it is participating in the municipal and upazila parishad polls in line with the party’s symbol of paddy.”
