BNP yesterday asked its district unit leaders to ensure that the names and voter numbers of their chairman candidates recommended by grassroots leaders for the upcoming union parishad (UP) polls reach the party central office at least seven days before the EC’s stipulated deadline for the filing of nomination.
For each union parishad, five BNP leaders-the upazila unit party president and general secretary, and the union parishad unit party president, general secretary and organising secretary--will jointly recommend a chairman candidate for the party’s approval to run the UP polls, said a party press release.
“District unit BNP presidents and general secretaries are requested to collect the correct full names and voter numbers of the recommended chairman candidates and ensure these reach the BNP central office seven days before filing of the nomination paper,” it added.
