The Awami-League-backed panel swept Barisal District Bar Association poll bagging 12 out of 16 posts, including president.
The BNP-led 20-party alliance supported Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oyikko Parishad bagged four posts, including secretary, in the election held on Thursday. A total of 708 out of 797 voters cast their votes from 9am to 6pm to elect 16 office bearers, including 11 executive body and five sub-committee members.
Advocate Vanu Ranjan Das, convener of the election sub-committee, declared results of the poll yesterday morning. Advocate Mojibor Rahman was elected president from Awami League-backed Sammilito Ainjibi Samannaya Parishad defeating BNP-led 20-party alliance supported Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oyikkojot’s candidate Advocate Abul Kalam Azad.
On other hand, Advocate Nazim Uddin Ahmmed Panna of BNP led 20-party-backed Jatiotabadi Ainjibi Oyikko Parishad elected general secretary defeating Advocate Md Mamun-Or-Rashid of Awami League-backed Sammilito Ainjibi Samannaya Parishad panel.
