BNP Standing Committee to meet Feb 10

Update : 06 Feb 2016, 05:39 AM

The BNP is set to hold its Standing Committee’s next meeting on February 10.

The party is going to hold the meeting at the chairperson’s Gulshan office at 8pm, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's press wing official Syrul Kabir Khan said.

The last meeting of the BNP's highest policymaking body was held on January 24 and it decided to hold the party's long overdue national council by March to revamp its rank and file.

Later on Friday, the party announced that it would hold the council on March 19.

BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement at a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office.

"We have applied to the authorities concerned seeking permission to arrange our council on March 19 at any one of three city venues. We only got response from Public Works Department for using Suhrawardy Udyan," Rizvi said.

He said that the party also sought permission from police authorities, but the police are yet to respond to it.

BNP's last and fifth national council was held on December 8 in 2009.
