The BNP has decided to hold its long overdue national council on March 19.
Party joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement at a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office on Friday morning.
"We have applied to the authorities concerned seeking permission to arrange our council on March 19 at any one of three city venues. We only got response from Public Works Department for using Suhrawardy Udyan," UNB quoted Rizvi.
He said that the party also sought permission from police authorities, but the police are yet to respond to it.
BNP's last and fifth national council was held on December 8 in 2009.
